About the Event
On line tickets (note main event is free small charge for the talks) - Here
We are attending the Saturday of this two-day festival of science and engineering surrounded by Brunel’s engineering in Swindon, the hub of UK science and innovation. Scientists and engineers will exchange knowledge and ideas with the public, Partners from industry, government and academia will reveal the latest innovations for today and tomorrow... there will be exhibitors in the main hall and also some fascinating talks, on space travel, time travel, firewors and VR, and also 'How to build a time machine!'. We couldn't resist! The event takes place in STEAM's characteristic Great Western Hall, Hawksworth Hall and Sir Daniel Gooch Theatre, and is free entry, however there is a small charge for the talks. Why not combine with a visit to the Fabolous Steam GWR Museume at the same time?
Podpad will be taking the Fly.VR, which is inspired by the futuristic flying cars in films like Blade Runner, Star Wars and Fifth Element. This scratch built interactive Electric vehicle has a VR experience like no other. Can you imagine being a law-enforcer, flying through the rain soaked streets of a future city, seated in a real vehicle, flying past giant projected advertising signs, ducking and diving with other cars? You don’t have to! Come and see the Fly.VR for real... There will be a small charge for the VR Experience, photos are free! So some along and pose with the Fly-Vr, and meet its creators. Together we can explore the question we get asked most .... 'Is it real?' ...... Come and join the discussion ...
